Lots of news about Prevelis but my Greek/English translator is not making any sense. What has happened to her? Has she been withdrawn from her route?

ANEK Lines, owners of Prevelis and Attica Group (mother company of Blue Star Ferries), both controled by Piraeus Bank, offer a joint service in most of the Aegean an Adriatic routes for the last decade or so. Moreover there is an ongoing merger procedure, as ANEK board and shareholders have accepted an Attica offer to buyout the company, as soon as they get over with (Hellenic) Competition Commission red tape.

Blue Star Ferries, got the Karpathos & Kasos lifeline contract and Blue Star Chios is already in the route since yesterday.

Their initial plan was to deploy Prevelis in Piraeus Chios Mytilene route for a couple of weeks, as a replacement for Diagoras, but the islanders upthere, were not so happy with Prevelis' age and speed. Local MPs, being very concerned for their reelection chances in two weeks time, persuaded Attica to keep Diagoras in the line. She will sail only for a round trip. Now news yet, for any further deployment.

Well, the big majority of shipping news sites are now requiring payment. I guess this has to do with the fact that this type of knowledge is highly specialized. In the free side of things and for an english speaker i can also add:

No, the ship Dionisios Solomos doesn't has a restaurant onboard.

Dionisios Solomos can serve you up the usual baguettes, pies and other pastries that you find in the cafes on most ferries. You'll have to bring your own food if you want anything more elaborate.

With Anemos now on Prevelis route she seems to have no work, anyone know what’s going to happen to her?

That's a good question, Tom. Now she is laid up in Salamina. Maybe she will be used to replace certain ships when necessary (Breakdowns, repairs, etc.) Only time will tell.

What has happened to Sporades Star, she’s been stopped in Syros for a few days and is now in Chalkis?

Why couldn’t they repair her in Syros? I saw a photo of her in one of the dry docks .

They are expecting spare parts. In Syros she just had the hole patched, in order to stay afloat while under tow.

The tug PROTUG 18 is just off the scrapyard at Aliaga. Her AIS indicates that she took a tow from Amaliapolis. Does anyone know which vessel she took?
